Commission: The UGC, however, was formally established only
in November 1956 as a statutory body of the Government of India through an Act
of Parliament for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards

Indian Council of Social Science
Research (ICSSR) was established in the year of 1969 by the
Government of India to promote research in social sciences in the
country. Advise the Government of India on all matters pertaining to
social science research as may be referred to it from time to time; and take
such measures generally as may be necessary from time to time to promote social
science research and its utilization.
Social Science Research Council: The
Fellowship Program encourages international multidisciplinary research on
topics of pressing global concern. The program fosters the development of a new
generation of researchers interested in policy-relevant topics and willing to
become key members of a bilateral and global research network.
Indian Council for Philosophical Research: The
main objective of ICPR Fellowship Scheme is
to promote research in philosophy at various levels by providing opportunities
to scholars, especially the young scholars, to engage themselves on a whole
time basis, in research projects on the themes of their choice, preferably
among the major areas of investigation identified by the Council or in the
Council’s own projects in the field of philosophy and related disciplines.
UNESCO: UNESCO
was created in order to respond to the firm belief of nations, forged by two
world wars in less than a generation, that political and economic agreements
are not enough to build a lasting peace. Peace must be established on the basis

National Council for Economic
Research and Training: NCERT projects take up specific
projects in educational research. It also promotes and supports through funding
and providing academic support to professionals working in the field. A
standing committee of NCERT called Educational Research and Innovations
Committee (ERIC) acts as a catalyst to promote and support research in priority
areas of school and teacher education. The ERIC members include eminent
researchers in education and allied disciplines from universities and research
institutions and representatives of SIEs/SCERTs. The Department of Educational
Research and Policy Perspectives (DERPP) acts as the Secretariat of ERIC and
coordinates other activities for promoting educational research.
The Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher
Education: The Government in setting up TANSCHE has made
known their intentions in unambiguous words. They expect it to act as a
catalyst to bring about a sea change in the domain of higher education with a
positively helpful understanding and attitude while liasing with the
universities in the State and the University Grants Commission. TANSCHE
is not meant to be a fifth wheel in the coach of higher education. Nor is
it to be a showpiece serving no definite purpose. TANSCHE's role has many
facets, which it needs to constantly keep in perspective in its determined
efforts to achieve the goals set for it.

Harry Frank Guggenheim
Foundation (HFG): HFG welcomes proposals from any of
the natural and social sciences and the humanities that promise to increase
understanding of the causes, manifestations, and control of violence,
aggression, and dominance. HFG awards research grants to individuals
for individual projects only. In addition to its support for postdoctoral
research, ten or more dissertation fellowships are awarded each year
to individuals who will complete the writing of the dissertation within the
award year.

international consortium of scholars and teachers, H-Net creates and
coordinates Internet networks with the common objective of advancing teaching
and research in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
Institute
for Humane Studies (IHS): IHS advances a freer society by
discovering and facilitating the development of talented, productive students,
scholars, and other intellectuals who share an interest in liberty. It
awards scholarships and research fellowships to undergraduate and graduate
students, as well as funding to graduate students and untenured faculty for
career-enhacing activities.
Social Science Research Council (SSRC): SSRC
is an independent nonprofit organization devoted to the advancement of social
science research and scholarship. Founded in New York City in 1923 as the
world’s first national coordinating body of the social sciences, it is today an
international resource for interdisciplinary, innovative public social
science. It offers various grants and fellowships for predoctoral and
postdoctoral work.
The Ministry of Textiles is
responsible for policy formulation, planning, development, export promotion and
trade regulation of the Textiles Industry. This includes all natural and manmade
cellulosic fibres that go into the making of textiles, clothing, and
handicrafts. The Ministry is headed by a Secretary, who is assisted in the
discharge of duties by four Joint Secretaries, , the Development Commissioners
for Handlooms and Handicrafts, the Economic Advisor, the Textiles Commissioner
and the Jute Commissioner.
Ministry of Rural
Development: Being the nodal Ministry for most of the
development and welfare activities in the rural areas, the Ministry of Rural
Development plays a pivotal role in the overall development strategy of the
country.
The
Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), is the nodal
agency in the administrative structure of the Central Government for the
planning, promotion, co-ordination and overseeing the implementation of India's
environmental and forestry policies and programmes.The primary concerns of the
Ministry are implementation of policies and programmes relating to conservation
of the country's natural resources including its lakes and rivers, its
biodiversity, forests and wildlife, ensuring the welfare of animals, and the
prevention and abatement of pollution.

promoting the sharing of data and best practices for collaboration among
funding agencies worldwide.

Council for Scientific and Technical Information - ICSTI provides a forum for
interaction between organizations that create, disseminate and use scientific

Union of Academies (IUA) - Aims to encourage, through collaborative research
and publications, those branches of learning promoted by its members including
philology, archeology, history, the moral, political and social sciences.
The National
Academies -
Advisers to the Nation on science, engineering and medicine, addressing
critical national issues and giving advice to the federal government and the
public.
